A team of 12 young adults, including myself, will be traveling to Nsoko, Swaziland, Africa this July.
KidsGames: we will be working with 300 kiddos, playing games, teaching sports, singing songs, learning about values and just goofing around! We will be working alongside the Gogos (grandmothers) and the rest of the community so that once we go home, they have the skills to continue challenging the kids in Nsoko. KidsGames is a program that is used across the world to bring kids together through sports. To find out more, visit their website. The resources are available, for free, to anyone interested.
Legacy Books, The Sinethemba Project: This is the one that really has my heart! I will be leading the group in working with the local HIV/AIDs support group to put together a book for the parents to leave behind for their children after they pass away. We will be recording memories, family history, advice, stories, and any other information the parents will want their children to know about them, their family, their culture. I will also be photographing the families together so the children have photographs to look back on. Being that Nsoko, Swaziland is such a rural and poor area, this is a trully rare gift. I’m honored and beyond thrilled to get to use my gift to bless them! I’m sure there will be tears streaming down my face most of the time, but it is going to be amazing.
If you would like to make a donation:
Go here, select “visions trip” from the drop down menu, and enter my full name “Paloma Ynda-Ramsey”, then follow the directions to donate. THANK YOU in advance for any and every person who decides to support me financially, this trip wouldn’t be possible without YOU! Really, it means a lot to me, but it will probably mean more to the kids I get to hug and hand a photo of them with their mom, who wont be around for much longer, for them to keep. Thank you.
Also, if you are in the San Diego area and would like some photos of yourself or your own family, check out my Flickr and get ahold of me there! I would love to use my photography to raise part of the money!
